Haier RRTG21PAAW The refridgerator is not working and neither is the freezer. There is no sound comming from the unit, but the light in the fridge (bottom) turns on when the power cord is plugged in & we open the door. The freezer is not freezing at all & we don't know why the fridge all of a sudden stopped making that noise when you leave the door open for a while, or just by itself when it's doing it's thing keeping the fridge cool
Well, your answer would seem to be simple...but in truth it could be many a issue. Just because the light is on does't mean anybodys home. Basic, (a) the cold control (dial in fresh food section that usually shows the word "off" at the warmest point on the dial) try turning it up to its coldest. Sometimes it might not reset after it turns off when it senses its cold. Also try tapping in the area of the control. If the freezer fan is not operating this or the defrost control could be the issue. (b) The defrost timer (mechanical or electronic) might have fail to advance out of defrost. Advanced items, (a) The compressor and or compressor relay and overload might be bad. (b) The evaporator fan is not operating (controled by the cold control circuit). (c) the condenser fan failed, which will cause the compressor to fail or shut down due to overheating. (the condenser fan is controled through the compressor circuit. These advanced items would need a multimeter and a understanding of circuit diagrams. Ric
