Have a 2001 trooper with 125000 miles, drove from kansas to texas and back just fine, now the dash is lit up like a christmas tree, TOD check flashing, check transmission flashing, check engine on constant, and abs light costant. i went to autozone and all signs pointed to vacuum leak? I had my dad look at it and he couldnt find anything wrong. now its shifting hard and revving when i stop. does anyone have any clue as to where i should start, I love my car and im not ready to give up on it!
Vacuum leak sounds right. It might be inside the booster. Try plugging the line to the booster to see if it idles better. Or listen carefully under the dash for a hiss when you push on the brake.
thanks again, i checked it all out and it seems to be on solid with no breaks in the hose. could it be possible that the booster itself is bad. I didnt hear any hissing sounds and the idle seems to be normal.thanks again, i checked it all out and it seems to be on solid with no breaks in the hose. could it be possible that the booster itself is bad. Yes, inside is what I meant to say, sorry. So there is no hissing under the dash when you step on the brake? But the engine speeds up when you do it? Does the engine keep running fast as long as you hold the brake down? There is a diaphragm inside the booster that can tear, but you want to make sure that is the problem before replacing the booster, because they are expensive.Yes, inside is what I meant to say, sorry.
