Remove the copy cartridgte and look on the right side of the machine. Clean all the contacts you see with a soft cloth, maybe lightly saturated with alcohol. Then on the door where the copies exit, open that door, you will see a metal, sawtooth shaped piece of metal, just before the paper exits the machine on that door. Take a brusk and gently clean the black ink off that sawtooth. Normally what happens is that builds up with ink and starts to arch causing the E-5 code. You may want to check the socket that is one the upper left portion of that door to inspect the contacts for damage.
