That is not much information to go on. If it won\'t crank then the engine seized up. Check the antifreeze for oil and the oil for antifreeze (creamy white) indicating blown head gasket (you should have also noticed overheating, blue smoke, and coolant smell). If it will crank then it could be electrical. Disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and reconnect to reset the computer and try again (you may have to cycle the key back and forth several times on some cars). Next you are going to have to go off of any engine noise (like something broke). If you broke a connecting rod, timing chain/belt you should have heard something. May also want to check that it has real fuel in the tank (not E-85 or diesel). Next thing I would check is plugs and wires (coil?) if it turns over but not firing or trying to start. Did you just drive the 40 miles after leaving the car wash? May be a wet connection. Is the alternator belt missing? Then the battery is dead.
