Have a Hanns G 28" monitor that has started to go to a "black" screen. The power indicator is still on when this happens.Turn it off/on image appears but eventually goes back to black screen faster and faster over a short period of time. Eventually gets to a point where i have to leave it off and unplug it for differing periods of time to get it to work, then cycle repeats.

I have had the same problem, but noticed something while moving cables. When I tap on the side of the screen, near the control buttons, it fixes it. You know like in the old days when your tv wasn't working, a good bang on the side of it got it working again? :) Anyway, that tells me it is a loose connection problem, internally, and not a heat problem. I will have to open the thing up to get more detail. Not today.
Same problem here and......same funny discovery. As i accidently touched the lower right side corner to turn the screen it came back on. Havent't opened it yet but will soon and hope to be able to fix the problem
I ficxed this problem today and what it was in my case was two 100uf 6.3v capacitors on the logic/main board. These are the two capacitors on the 5 volt side of that main board and were failing. No visual signs of a problem but pulled them off the board and tested them with ESR meter and they were faulty. The day before I repaired the power supply on this monitor and worked great but was turning black and coming back on and I noticed there were artifacts bleeding through the screen at different places as the monitor stayed on. Please dont think Radio Shack is going to have the caps to fix this one. If anyone needs any advice on ordering these two caps i would be happy to help.
Do you have any photos of when you opened it up?
I've been having the same problem for several months. My monitor worked fine for over a year. I've changed the screen resolution to 1024x768 and it seems to stay on. The next higher resolution works too, but above that I get the black screen problem. My problem does not track with temperature. This winter when my office temp was below 70 degrees the problem persisted. I might try getting an ATI board to see if that will help. Please let me know if you find out more.

Hey My husband and I have two of these same monitors and within a week of each other they BOTH started having the same problem. We had them for almost a year before they started acting up. Anyway, we had given up trying to fix them and were going to buy new monitors when my husband
discovered while I was on vacation that when he kept the room cool the monitors stayed on. SO we
went to target today and bought a small fan and put it behind the monitor and we just finished playing
a long game of Age of Empires II, the monitor never turned off once and the room was 80F. Hope this
helps!!
