Hi, something you might want to try is holding the monitor at an angle and looking at it in moderate to bright light (with the comptuer running). If you see an image on the screen, but it's extremely dark, it's probably the back-light that's gone out. The back-light goes out often on LCD monitors, and can be replaced or fixed by someone with the time and know-how. Most of these modern monitors don't use traditional capacitors (air or fiber dialectric), but rather solid state capacitors that don't really "blow" like the old ones used to. If one of these new capacitors did blow, you wouldn't be able to see it like the old style ones (split top). If the green light comes on, then it's probably not the pwoer supply. If the light stays green and doesn't go amber, then it's probably not the video input section. My money's on the back-light. Hope this helps!
You need to remove the base and all the screws first then use thin flat blade screw driver to crack open the case starting at the bottom edge of the screen, you can get free service manual here: http://eserviceinfo.com/index.php?what=search2 just type in 920mw in the ENTER? box, and SAMSUNG in the MFG box. You will need utiltiy software to open RAR files. See example of failed SAMSUNG monitors here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
