Have just replaced water pump for the 3rd time since 2006-every 15,000 miles... is this common problem pertaining to the 1995 Buick Skylark Custom=just had a new one put in=drove it 18 miles...it blew... it was replaced again drove the car 21 miles today and the 2nd one blew up... What could be causing this???
Water pumps fail from unbalanced fans of unbalance fan hubs. The excessive vibration and loads quickly cause the bearings to fail. Check the fan for balance and if you are running a viscous fan hub check that the bearing in it is ok. The fan blades have to run true and all on the same plane because balance is both dynamic and static.
