Have lifecam VX-500 in device manager it states that it is working properly. But when the icon on the desktop is opened a messages says there no camera connected to this computer. I can't find any answers as to why this is happening. I uninstall and reinstalled as windows help centre advise but nothing changed

I had this problem myself and it was a conflict.It seemed that only my webcam software was installed but I found another program in 'All Programs' ( only had numbers - no title) After deleting this it was fine
Have you downloaded the support software for your webcam ? check out the readme links for details - for example I have a logitech and need Directx to run it
