Sounds like you have the inevitable backlight inverter/t-con board failure. Turn on the set and darken the room 1) See if you notice a dull glow on the screen If you see a glow then the backlight inverter is functional and t-con board, also known as video driver board is dead 2)If there is no glow then take a torch light. Flash it on the screen from a close distance such that the light travels down the screen Try it from different angles and see if you notice a dull picture. If you see the picture then the t-con board is functional but the backlight inverter board is dead.

If you can see the glow then it is confirmed that the backlight is functional. We have to find the t-con board for your set. Hope its not integrated in the panel which some manufacturers do. Take off the back cover and the metal plates at the center. The see if you can find a board that looks like this one
