Having problems getting the door to close.....The door starts to close then then it stops like it hit something. i can hold the button on the wall down and i can get it to close. It doesnt seem to have a problem opening the door. i have noticed that once it starts it appears to get some slack in the chain

Check sproket for broken tooth on sproket Happens during winter in midwest garage door cheapos use a plastic sproket for wind up and down Mine in particlar sears cheapo broke a tooth and chugged gort slack and sometimes stopped but down ok wieght of door kept slack out UP sometimes chugged and caused slack then stopped
you can slightly adjust the chain to be tighter with the adjustment screws built into chain See them? solid bullet like links with adjustment screw built in
