Hawking Extender- Connected to WiFi but cannot access Internet
My iPod recognizes the new network established by the Hawking Extender, and I've entered the correct password and logged in with no errors, and the iPod's WiFi indicator clearly indicates that I'm connected. However, I'm unable to access the Internet.
Hawking Extender Model: HWREG1
Router: Linksys
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.

Same thing happened to us! I researched and documented a solution at: http://hwren1.blogspot.com/ (Hope this helps you.)
Check your internet connection on another device or computer and see if it is giving you the same problem as the internet connection may not be working. If it still is not working, if you have a modem, take the cable that is running from the modem to the router and plug it into the computer and see if you can connect to the internet that way. If you can, then try resetting the router and troubleshotting it for other problems that could be causing it. If it does not connect, the consult your internet provider about your connection.
Well the problem is the range. When you get too far away from the router, the ipod tries to connect at first and it says it is a good signal, but since you are far away from the actual router, the internet breaks up and you will get limited to no acess on that connection. Glad I could help!
Can you tell me where/which cable you have the Hawking Extender connected to as it being in the wrong place could mean that it is not getting the proper internet connection. It may have to be hooked up to the internet cable first before the router if it already is not.
First think I always do is Reset Linksys Router and disconnect extender. Then turn off all security on router. Do soft reset on ipod. leave extender off and see if you can connect to the linksys. If you can then plug in extender (still with security off) then see if ipod connects to extender.
you might have to soft reset ipod again once you connect the extender.
if that works. reset security. Let me know how that goes.
Also found this information.
you need to change the IP address of your setup computer to be in the
subnet of the (fixed) initial address of the Extender so you can talk
to it over your browser, configure it with the target SSID and a new
(fixed) IP address in the subnet of the desired Access Point, and then
restore your DHCP or original computer IP address. If that's all
gibberish to you, you might be in for problems. If you follow the
instructions VERY carefully you will still succeed, but if anything
goes wrong you could get stuck.
One other thing. I have had issues with the ipod touch working with a wireless N linksys router and to turn the security off on your router sign in to it via your browser and go to the wireless section and disable it. then apply. then reset extender to pick up on the changes.
let me know how that goes.
