My first guess is to inspect the lead try the easiest solution first then approach the difficult after . The second course is more painful if the lead is indeed ok then you are probably looking at one of three things constant plugging in and pulling out has caused microfractures on the pcb circuit isolating the HDMI plug ,Or dry joints on pcb , And failiure of input components on circuit . Sorry not to be the bearer of better tidings but this is one of those faults that make an engineer scream ? WITH JOY £££$$$$££££ as it is going to take ages to find ?...
