Heat and AC don't work on Scion xa 2005
I have a 2005 Toyota Scion Xa that was in a front end collision. I bought it from a guy who fixed it up after the accident. The heat and AC don't work, air doesn't really blow out of the vents. My mechanic said he'll have to take the dash apart to see what's going on. Is that reasonable? Seems like it's going to cost a lot just to do that. The thermostat and compressor are both working fine.

I think what has happened is when the car was in the smash some of the air-con pipes have been damaged and after the repair they have been put back on, or even if they have been replaced my guess is the system has not been recharged, As for the heater maybe the pipes that go onto the blower box may not be attached properly which will send the heated air in another direction
