Hello everyone, this is my first time using fixya and I'm excited for the opportunity to get some advice... I have a 95 GMC Sonoma 2.2 ltr 4 cylinder 2 wheel drive. I just bought this truck about a month ago and have had no issues until a few days ago. Here's what's going on, first the trans would downshift from 4th to 3rd even on flat roads. Then it went to not wanting to go into 4th but when it does the check engine light will come on but goes out after it downshifts. It will do this over and over. At the same time the truck began to run rough I have to push the throttle carefully as it will sputter and will shut off if I'm not careful. Also it has become very difficult to start and will not unless I put it to the floor and even then it is hard to start. Today the oil pressure gage says the oil pressure is low. I went to a mechanic buddy and he tried to pull a code but it just said can't connect with computer. In past experiences that has led to ecm being bad or a bad fuse not allowing a proper reading. Checked all fuses and they are all good. I'm wondering if its the computer is bad and messing with everything or there's a lot going bad at once which I find to be odd. Does anyone agree with my thought of computer being bad and creating multiple issues at once or that multiple things went bad at the same time? I don't want to buy a computer for no reason. Any thoughts? Thanks guys
