Hello, I have been having problems with my fujitsu split system. In the summer, the cooler part worked wonderfully so I was looking forward to being cosy and warm in winter! What happens is that it gets to 16 degrees and then shuts off :( it then comes back on once it has dropped below 16 degrees. Could there be something wrong with the heat sensor or could it just be as simple as adjusting something on the remote control? Please help, I am tired of being freeeeezing. Kate
You didn't say how cold it is outside your home, which is important when dealing with a heat pump.
If it's colder than it's been previously, you might just need to 'move your thermostat up a couple of degrees to make up for the colder outside temperature. Thermostats are notorious for being a little out of adjustment, so I would try this first.
Some things you can check:
1) Is the outside unit 'iced up?' - if so you will probably need a Service Tech.
2) Is there a snow drift against the outside unit? - clear the snow from the unit
3) is the outdoor unit running? - check the fuses/breakers for outdoor unit
4) might you have a 'open' window(s) in the house somewhere?
5) Is your house/windows/doors insulated well or just so-so?
6) are some of the vents 'closed off?'
There's a host of 'other things' that can cause the problem you described, such as low charge, refrigerant flow problems, bad compressor valves and a bad reversing valve - but you will need a Service Tech for those problems.
Hi,the problem is not a setting problem but rather a problem associated with the sensor attached to the heating element, the solution is to take out the heating element and replace it with a new one.i hope you are technically inclined.
This is absolutely normal. There is a device called thermostat that will turn off the power to the heater if the temperature is raising above a set value. To get around this set the value to a slightly higher value like 18 so that the room will remain warm even when it turns off and when it drops to 17 it will turn back on. Atleast thats what I do.
You have to adjust the temperature again ...from the remote control ...it remained set from the summer settings when the 16 was fine...(actually the normal temp is 18 C ) ...so ..The fact that it stops and run again it means that it function well and has nothing wrong ..but just the temperature limit on the thermostat needs to be reset to a higher value..press temp set ..than the value needed and ok ...
if the temperature point when it shuts down and starts when get below is too low (set for summer heat ) ...than all you have to do is see the method to change the thermostat max point ...no matter the model or how old it is ..the only thing that may be different is that the temperature changes ..are made from the unit itself ..(not so sophisticated like now a days units ) but the idea is the same ...you need a temperature...you set it as maximum level of the thermostat ..and the unit runs until that point and shuts down as a power saver...and when the ambient temp. drops below with a degree or two ...its starts (has a sensor) that's all...So in case this temperature is set too low ..obviously it will maintain that temperature...even more...if you start a fireplace ..it will blow cool to compensate just like in the summer... Have a nice day ..and thank You for using Fixya !
