Hello, My craftsman model 917.271.910 lawn tractor won't start. 20 amp fuse keeps blowing...had battery checked... it's good. what would cause the fuse to keep belowing? The last time I used it, it kept stalling in the yard, and I had to jump it to get it going each time. Now, it won't even start. Fuse keeps blowing. Thanks, Dave
Hi, Sounds like a bad/shorted wire... like one of the hot wires off of the battery going to the starter or the starter solenoid... Move the wires around and check for a place that the coating is rubbed through, or there is a loose connection....starter solenoid could also be bad...unhook wires a try to start... when it no longer blows the fuse then you have the right wire..... If you have an OHM meter you can also use that to trace down the short...
It may end up to be the starter it's self...but hate to have anyone change that first as that is a more expensive item to replace... Wish I could get may hands on much of this equipment, as I could troubleshoot it in minutes usually with my own tools and meter...It may end up to be the starter it's self...but hate to have anyone change that first as that is a more expensive item to replace...
