Hello. My pulsar 150 UG3 is giving me speed of 47kmp at 4000Rpm which is 3kmp slower than normal as i have another same bike which produce 50kmp at 4000. How it can be corrected? I have consulted to service center several time but they fail to do anything about this
Speedometers are not exact and they will vary slightly, even between the same model, year etc. Tyre size and wear also affect the reading because of the distance travelled with one complete revolution of the wheel. A new tyre with plenty of tread depth will travel further in one revolution than an older worn tyre with less tread depth. If you have two bikes and the tyre treads are different depths, just measure around them both and you will see the different circumferences. Multiply that difference by 100 and you see how much further one will travel than the other in only 100 revolutions and when you think how many times a wheel goes round on a journey, the difference is huge. This puts into perspective the 3KPH difference and also why a tyre seems to wear out quicker once it is down to half the original tread depth......I know mine seem to.
