Remove the battery cover, take out the battery, and put it back in.
When the Palm logo appears, press and hold Power/End until the black status bar at the bottom of the screen fills and disappears.

That's exactly the same problem i'm having! i picked up my palm centro phone to use it and noticed it was trying to hotsync. i haven't yet used the synch feature. i tried to cancel it but it wouldn't exit. i took out the battery and now while it initally displays the palm screen (with orange circle) when the battery is inserted, it then goes blank and the key pad and all other controls flash on and off.

the hotsync steel comes out how do i get riid of it?
