Hi all i have a aprillia sx125 it is a late 2008 and only done 1000 miles it has been stood for about six months it starts ok and runs super but it revs high abont 3500rpm and takes about ten minutes to come own to idle or if i tap the carb softly with the end of a hammer can any body help? regards Colin
Hi, know it sounds silly but you are turning the choke off, or does it have an automatic choke. Can you hear the slide hitting the stop inside the carb when you let go of the throttle, try lifting the cable ontop of the carb and not the twistgrip if it goes down straight away, you could have a sticking cable, otherwise check for a split in the vachume pipe if fitted as an air leak may cause this, or a loose clip securing the carb, leaking gasket, or a gumed up slide, the standing could have caused the slide to stick if the fuel in the carb had started to go off and become sticky, remove slide and check , remember to replace it the same way as it only fits 1 way
I have the same bike been used solid for 2years now around 10000 miles and has same problem. Mines turned out to be a sticking choke mechanism. When bike is warm the idle races up to around 3000rpm and willl stay for as long as bike decides, but if i flick choke lever on and of it is cured. To check for air leak spray carb cleaner all round the hoses connected to carb, if there is a leak rpm will increase.I have the same bike been used solid for 2years now around 10000 miles and has same problem.
