Hi, Have a Acer Veriton M464, fully up to date Bios, Chip, the works. Bought a nice cheap graphics card to mess around with "XFX nVidia GeForce 8500GT" Inserted into my PCI slot, Vista won't detect it, "monitor idle" obviously! and System Devices don't pick it up. Know pretty much most if all things and fix others computers, but this is really sticking it to me, and it's my own pc!! any or all would be appreciated. Thanks Rob (slowing losing his sanity)
Its possible that your video card is not compatible with your motherboard. Yes, this sometimes happens, the board manufacturer needs to update their BIOS if this kinds of things happen. Another possibility is that you have a bad graphics card. If its Brand new then its probably a lemon. Go to your friends house and test your graphics card and see if it works. This would isolate the problem.
