Hi i have a 1990 subaru legacy rs BC5 single turbo it seems to blow turbos all the time, the blow off valve opens up on idle even through the boost gauge reads zero and when it drives and hits boost it takes off then loses power although it still reads boost almost like it drops a cylinder, i have replaced igniter, turbo, manifold, ecu, intercooler, sensors ect any suggestions or help would be awesome cheers
Hello, that is a puzzler, but the blow off valve opening up at an idle is making me think exhaust/catalytic converter restriction causing to much back pressure. Like it can't get the air through fast enough so it's backing up in the intake. I would start my chase there... Let me know if you find any thing...(subyguru)...
Thanks for the help subyguru, i ended up removing the engine and dismantling finding out it had bent valves. I went strait back to the auto shop i purchased off and after pressing them on the issue they finally admitted the motor wasnt rebuilt as they stated and the cambelt had previously broken while driving only for it to be placed back on without checking so bingo, bent valvesThanks for the help subyguru, i ended up removing the engine and dismantling finding out it had bent valves.
