Hi, I have a 1995 Subaru Legacy estate, 73,000 miles on the clock. It is the imported (to the UK) Boxer 2-stage twin turbo, (my second one in a row!). Problem is that i thas a drop in power occasionally. Usually at around 2100 revs but not every time. I can be driving at 30mph or 60mph, at a constant speed or accelerating. A couple of time the 'Check Engine' light has come on for a second before going out. Oil, water etc are good. What can it be? I haven't run it into a garage for a diagnostic yet. One of your collegues suggested a loose or split hose allowing air into the manifold but there are so many hosed under the bonnet I have no idea where to look first!
I am sorry to Hear Regarding the Problem. This Model is Prone to Many problems. If Check Engine Light is ON, and you have Driveability issues, i would Advise you to take the Car to Auto Zone and get it Scanned. There is No Point in wasting your Time, if you could get the Diagnostic Code. I have hardly seen Hose Problems in this Car. Frankly, Auto Zone and there are so many Places where you could get a Free Diagnostic Code. Take a print and let me know. Whenever there is a Driveability problem and you see check Engine Light Flashes, more often this is an Indication, that there is a Serious problem with the Car and the Error is stored in the Memory of the Car Computer.
If there would be No Error Codes, then we need to Check all Wiring and other Stuff which would be time Consuming. But, if we could get the codes, that would tell us the Reason and then we could easily track the Problem.
I would be waiting for an Update. Regarding Connector, there are different ways to Find Code. Few do not need any Connector. Few does need that. There are Connectors on this Model. There are Different Locations. It depends on which Software and Scanner would be used to read code.
Let me know, once you have the Car Diagnosed.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Thanks for your response!!
