Hi I have a 8 channel 980h and I was wondering if it's possible to backup the complete hard drive at once instead of one day and one camera at a time?
The reason is my son was killed in a car accident and there is more than a year of video of him around the house I don't want to loose, I have shut down the system to avoid recording over anything. The only way I've found to back it up was one camera and one day at a time because of how many videos there are. Is there a better way? Thx for your help Mike

Yes. What you need to do is physically remove the Hard Drive from the DVR and use a duplicator to create an identical copy of the drive so you will always have the original drive backed up in its original state. Amazon sells “external HD Duplicators” just make sure when you clone the hard drive you clone onto a drive that has the same size storage ea. 500gb to 500gb NOT 500gb to 250gb because it has to match in size to duplicate it, if you ever put the copied drive back in the dvr it will be in the exact same state as when you took the original out to make that copy... does that make sense?
After I do that how can I view and save files in that drive?
