If the problem is the engine not turning over or turning very slowly i would suggest getting the battery condition checked , also as you said hard to start when cold initially this also points to a battery that has little to no power in it , maybe not holding charge or not getting high enough charge from alternator , have you tried to jump start from another vehicle ( with the other vehicle engine running) ?
