Hi i have a smartdisk crossfire external harddrive which I have used to save my photos from a windows based pc. However I have now purchased a IMac and wish to be able to load my photos on to this. When I plug the harddrive into my Imac it is not recognised. Any suggestions on how I can get my photos onto my Imac ?

Congratulations on switching to mac!plug the external hard drive back into the PC, and copy the photo's to the PC, now plug it into your mac and go to applications-utilities-disc utility, the external drive should be listed on the left,click on the erase tab, at the volume format select "ms-dos file system", then click the erase button, this will erase everything on the drive and set it up so your mac can use it (but its ok because you moved all your pictures to the PC) now you can go back to the PC and copy the pictures on the external drive and it will work with your mac.
