Hi, I just purchased a FUH-54B at Northern Tool and Equipment and installed it this evening. I have a 30 amp double pole breaker installed, and I have 120V at L1 and 120V at L2. The ground is properly connected. After turning the thermostat on, I still have no heat. I allowed 5 minutes for element pre-heat, and still nothing. Anything else I should check before returning the unit to Northern Tool?
It sounds like you have 120v from line 1 and line to to ground. What do you have between line 1 and line 2? You should have 220 or 240v. If you dont have this the problem is at the breaker. Are the wires going to the same breaker?
If you do have 220 or 240 between line 1 and line 2 at the unit, then it appears thr problem is at the unit, probably the thermostat isn`t turned up high enough?
If it has a contactor, is it pulled in? If not then there is a control problem. If you are skilled and confident you could simply push the contactor in and it should operate or have an electrician do it. Most of the time you can bypass the thermostat and close the contactor that way.
