Sorry this answer is a bit late.
The green light shows it is powering the USB socket.
To turn this off, slide the switch under the big white LED lamp to the middle position.
Yes it's a rubbish design. Left is the USB socket On, Right is the big lamp On. Off is in the middle. A label would have been handy.
