Hi my computer is reading my external hard drive but when i click on it its saying please insert disk into removable disk. I have tried changing the letter like most people recommend but it was unsuccesfull i have tried numerous other things too but nothing it wont even let me format it.I have files on it so it would be great if i didnt lose them but if necessary thats fine. Its a Dane Elec so ready + 1tb. I would really appreciate your help it is driving me crazy. Thanks, Kevin
Did the hard drive come in the enclosure? (Is the hard drive supported by the extrenal enclosure) Does it work when plugged into another computer and have you tried using another cable? Did it come in the enclosure? Try another cable Did it work when plugged into another computer? Yes - Windows Drivers No - Try another enclosure or cable Did it work with another cable? Yes - Problem Solved No - Try another enclosure with the new cable try whichever of these and see if it helps. please respond here with what happens wether it works or not. Another option by the way is to check what happens when you take the hard drive out of the enclosure and install it inside the computer as an internal Hard Drive. If that works then it isn't the hard drive atleast. I will away to see what happens.
Well easiest way to explain is about 10 out of 100 devices that come out of production are actually checked for faults, the rest are just assumed to be good and working so your chances of getting an electronic being faulty from factory are higher than most would assume. If you still have your receipt I would recommend taking it in for a replacement. If it is older and out of warranty then I am sorry to say but it may need replacement. Sorry I couldn't be more help.Well easiest way to explain is about 10 out of 100 devices that come out of production are actually checked for faults, the rest are just assumed to be good and working so your chances of getting an electronic being faulty from factory are higher than most would assume. The computer has memorised a prior connection of external device. For example external hardrives have builtin programs that install onto the computer once connected for the first time. The message of the program may continue to display only as indication of compartibilty with external devices. Observe the external ports to confirm that no external devices are attached. Disregard the message of port storage media available as separete entity to the computers defualt disk drivers.
No offence but external enclosures are plug and play and do not require anything except a driver which can be downloaded automatically from windows update. The only ones that require programs are dedicated media storage drives and even those can at bare without the program run without a program. No offence but external enclosures are plug and play and do not require anything except a driver which can be downloaded automatically from windows update.
