Could be it needs a new drive belt or wheel and examine the turntable bearings and spindle at the same time.
If it is a synchronous motor providing the drive it could be ready for attention as such motors are prone to seized bearings.
It would be wise also to ensure the tone arm moves freely and the stylus weight is correctly adjusted.
