High temp the freezer is at a good tempature but the frig is not chilling the food. we just moved in and the frig seemed to work fine when we first looked at the apartment. we had to defrost the freezer to clean it before we could stock it. but we only defrosted enough to wipe off the surfaces and we found ice in the frig soon after we did this

If there was frost on the back wall of the freezer, you have a defrost problem occurring. Either your timer is not telling it to defrost or the defrost thermostat or heater have failed. The immediate (but temporary) solution is to pull everything out of the freezer, remove the screws holding the back wall into place and CAREFULLY use a hair dryer to thaw out all of the frost on the evaporator coils. If you do this and re-assemble it, it should work fine for a week or so at least until you get a repair man to look at it.
