Hiya I have a Vauxhall Astra R Reg and having a few problems.... Around 3 months ago I changed the thermostat as there was only warm air flowing into the car, even after it had been running for sometime - Result - perfect, warm air. Also change the switch unit (under the pollen filter) to allow all positions to blow as this was also faulty - working fine now. Over the last two weeks I have added 2ltrs of oil - seems to be burning this now!! Water level does move aswell. No (fish eyes) water mixing with the oil and no noticable loss of power? The temp gauge goes right up to 100 (cant hear or feel the fan coming on) and then shoots right down to around the 80 mark??? very wierd! Also the heating in the car is warm and not HOT again ???? Could this be another faulty Thermostat??
I have a vauxhall astra 1.6 ls and it starts ok when stoped its battery is dead also i have a problem with rear passenger break light . also the 20 amp fuse keeps blowing kl many thanks.
Yes it can be another thermostat issue. We can't really know the thermostat's life span for it can break in any given time. Regarding the oil issue. It can really be lower on cold start but tends to rise when engine is warm. Since there's no visible leak and no water in oil then you can stop worrying.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
