You will need to have the ABS module scanned for codes. This will need to be done with another end scan tool/code reader. Once you know what the codes are you will have a much better idea of what the problem is and what needs to be done to fix it.
If the light comes on when you start the vehicle and goes out and stays out until you start to move it is usually a speed sensor issue. Whether it is the sensor itself, the air gap between the sensor and the exciter ring, or a bad exciter ring.
If it comes on when you start the car and never goes out than that indicates that the ABS system has failed its self check. We then know that it is not an air gap or exciter ring issue and can focus on sensors, motors, solenoids, and modules as possible causes.
