Hooking up a Mac to tv
I'm hooking up the computer through VGA. When I turn on the computer, the initial start up comes up fine (white screen with gray apple and spinning wheel underneath), but as soon as that screen goes away everything goes blue and "No Support" shows up on the screen.
The computer works fine with a different monitor.

I ran into the same problem with my "50 maxent. The manual clearly states that mac resolutions are not supported. We won't let that stop us. Step one is to download switchresx. It's a simple utility that should allow you to define custom resolutions. http://www.madrau.com/ .
Step 2 is to download chicken of the VNC. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/9517 . Once this is installed on a separate mac from the one you are trying to connect to the maxent take your mini and hook it up to the RGB port on the maxent and boot it up. Once this is done use chicken of the vnc to take control of of the mini with the other mac. Now you can change the resolution on the mini using switchresx which you installed on the mini earlier. In the case of the maxent you will need to set it to 1366x768 at 60 hz. If using another flat panel consult your user manual for the correct resolution. In my opinion there is no flat paned tv this should not work for.
Good luck!
I found the manual here:http://www.retrevo.com/d/ds/progress?doc...
Funny thing happened while i was reading this ... i got the same "No Support" display on my (5-yr old) Maxent when hooking up to my Macbook Air (new, Jan 2012).
Bummed, I took the monitor cable off the maxent and placed it straight to another smaller 2nd monitor i was using. display worked on the 2nd monitor. i started whining to my awesome smart boyfriend when i decided just to show him the "No Signal RGB" text.
i moved the monitor cable back onto the Maxent and whalla! it showed a picture on a lower resolution.
This is because the Maxent defaulted to the 1920 x 1080 resolution, which is really NOT supported.
Here's another complicating factor, when i clicked to detect displays, the configuration screen for the Maxent automatically gets sent to the blue "No Support" screen so i couldn't see it.
Don't have a 2nd monitor to force a lower resolution? ... no worries .....click "Gather Windows" on the settings-display screen and the 2nd display menu will pop up behind the 'main' display window and you will be able to lower the resolution to 1366 x 768 (or whatever works best for your size Maxent).
Now i am very happy. hope that solves your problem too
