Hotpoint WT540 when set to temp 30 wash programme H it has shrunk woolen jumpers twice now. Is their a temperature sensor that could of failed or is there another reason why this should happen. Is there a thermometer that I could put in the wash to detect the temperature
There is a temperature sensor, it is called a Thermistor, and they have been known to fail, It is usually located at the end of the heater fixing plate. But it could be also a board problem. You can get a thermometer to test the temp , there is an infrared one that you point at the liquid or article you need to check the temp of,, and it shows the temp on an lcd screen, but they are not cheap. At 30 however, the water should be no more thal luke warm, if it feels hot, then the temp is not being controlled
