It's like a battery. you run it in parallel (run power from battery + to capacitor + then from capacitor + to ampplifier +) battery, capacitor, and amp each has its own ground (black or -). you don't need a remote wire. it only stores electricity until the amplifier needs extra juice (so your headlights won't dim).
