You don't say specifically what printer you have (other than, presumably, an HP.) Is it always happening, or happening with specific print jobs? SOME HP printers will let you increase the amount of memory in them. Some have a setting in their driver that doesn't always match your installed memory - for instance, you may have 512 Mb but it thinks you only have 96 Mb.
Short term, turn off the printer, wait, turn it back on, see if it will print.
