I have naturally dirty blonde hair. I had highlights (partial) that needed refreshing & my hair was a bit too dark. So I highlighted strands of my hair with a boxed highlighting kit. Results were orange/yellow highlights. I then used Ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi-Perminent Creme Hair Color 6N (Dark Natural Blonde) to try to tone it down. The color came out darker & orange highlights. Went to a salon for help, she said she could put some more blonde highlights in to blend in with the rest. I asked if she could put some lowlights in & she said it would make my hair more brassy. I went home very unhappy! I had ugly yellow/gold highlights! I went to beauty supply store & they recommended a toner...Wella Color Charm Liquid Permanent Hair Color (they said it acted as a toner too) in T11 Lightest Beige Blonde. My hair was then a bright orange/red color! I was unable to wash it out, realizing it was a permanent color. My hairdresser told me to use Clairol Radiance Translusent Colorgloss Semi-Permanent Hair Color in 8A Light Ash Blonde...she said it would tone down all the red/orange & my blonde highlights would not be affected (because i had wanted to keep what little blonde i had left in my hair). My entire head of hair is now dark brown w/reddish/orange "tone". I am devastated!!! I have shampooed my hair a thousand times with everything imagineable. My hair is still dark and my highlights are gone. All I wanted was Light (cool white color) Highlights, Med Ash Blonde Lowlights. Any suggestions on how to get my hair back to my lighter shade & get my highlights back??
