HOW can I tell if a Goulds jet pump needs replacement?
We returned from 4 weeks away, and the water wasn't working... I tried to prime it without success, then replaced a piece of pipe above the footer valve that had a corroded hole... the footer valve looks functional, and no apparent air leaks... still won't prime...

Pull the foot valve as it takes very little to allow the water to drain back out. Personally I would replace all pipes in the hole with heavy duty /high pressure plastic agricultural irrigation pipes
