How common is it to run into 220-240V power for a refrigerator?
A family member recently acquired a vintage mid-century Frigidaire. I am an electrician, so they told me that they will need a 220V plug for their new classic. However, I've never heard of a refrigerator running on 230 volts before. Was this common at one time?

Hi Ryan:
The only place that I have encountered 220 volt appliances was in Britain, and I for sure would not consider connecting any appliance to 220 unless I knew that was correct.
My suggestions:
1) look at the motor or compressor and see if the voltage is recorded on the specification tag.
2) Google the make and model with the key word "voltage" and see what you find.
Hope this helps.
