How do i bleed the air out of the diesel fuel filter on my 2003 C3 1.4hdi?
I think air got in when I opened valve at the bottom of the fuel filter to let water out. The car started but as I reversed 2 feet the engine cut out as though it had run out of diesel. There is approx 10 litres of diesel in tank. Now, although the engine turns over fast it will it will not start.

There is a prime bubble like a small rugby ball on the fuel line coming from the tank. Prime that slowly a few time's will get the air out. It will now take a lot of cranking the engine to get it going. The high pressure pump needs to build up 200 lbs pressure before the injectors will open. Keep cranking it will start. Your next problem is the engine managment light. This will come on because of the low rail pressure. It won't effect the car running but will need a plug in to remove the fault and put the light out.
