Model 4005 is NOT water resistant and definitely should not be cleaned under water. However, you may remove the foil and cutter and wash only those parts in water. Contrary to the popularity of 'washable' shavers, cleaning them with water is not a great way to clean them. You will find much better results if you soak them in a little rubbing alcohol and then brushing them off.
