The 8801 is an 11.2 channel AV preamp/processor. The SR7009 is a 9.2 channel receiver that includes both preamp and amplifiers.
The 8801 handles an amazing 11 channels of audio, but you can only use the SR7009 for 7.1 input channels. (Does anyone really need 11?) Unless you have some extremely demanding audio requirements, you would probably just want to use the SR7009 by itself. You can't fully utilized the 8801 as a front end (pre/pro) so I'm not aware of any benefits to connecting the two of these together.
