As a general rule not set in stone, laptops are most likely to have wireless access because they are expected to be mobile. Not so much for work stations. When such a laptop is taken into an area with a WiFi hotspot the system will sense the RF activity and a connect message pops up on the bottom right corner of the screen by the time and date. More to the point of your question: Check the Network Adapters tab in the System Device Manager. You do not mention which operating system you have but in XP you would click START -

According to eMachines, your PC is not wireless ready.
You will have to install a wireless card to use a wireless hookup.
