How do I fix my noisy Husqvarna Viking 64 40
I have watched demos of the Husky Viking 6440 and they are very quiet machines. I bought mine at a yard sale a few years ago and when I sew, even at a very slow speed, it is very noisy. I have freed up the buttonhole function which solved the problem I was having with my upper thread tension, but it is still loud. It sews great but I'm afraid that parts may be wearing out unnecessarily. Any suggestions on how to fix it without taking it to a shop?

The bobbin case will cause a loud rattle, vibrating noise if the hole in the center of it is dry and dirty. Take a qtip and put a couple pf drops of oil on the qtip and insert it through the hole in the center of the bobbin case, this may solve you problem. Good Luck!
If it is mechanical (not computerized), a thorough oiling with good fresh sewing machine oil or Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube will likely make a vast improvement. Open the top, the left side cover, and the area under the sewing surface. Gently rock the handwheel and apply 1-2 drops of oil every place that metal rubs against metal. Do NOT oil rubber/fabric belts, leather, plastic, synthetic parts or computer components. Old oil turns to glue and then varnish and actually inhibits movement. Keeping the oil fresh will help your machine keep running for a long time. Oil at least every six months when not in use. More often if the machine is used frequently.
