How do I get the globe part of the light package apart. I put thi fan together years ago anf now I need to change bulbs but can't get the globe to separate from the metal base to change bulbs

Try some wd40 or other non conductive lubricant.
If it is the glass cover for light there should be a fancy type nut in the centre. This may be frozen with rust or corrosion, again try wd40.
