If you suspect problems with your auto tranny it is really a specialist task to diagnose what those problems might be.
For cars with electronic control of the transmission a specialist with a clever laptop can learn many things but for the rest it is probably best to drain the fluid and remove the oil pan. Examine a sample of the fluid in a sight glass and if the fluid looks dark and smells burned it is probable the clutch(es) are very worn. If there is any sign of metallic swarf in the oil pan there has been unwanted metallic contact.
Replacing a clutch pack is a significant amount of work. It would be foolish not to carry out a complete overhaul at the same time especially as the presence of clutch dust and swarf would mean a complete and thorough clean out of every part, including the torque converter - no warranty would be possible unless the torque converter is cleaned or replaced.
