How do I open the washer top to replace the lid switch?
I have this GE Washer/Dryer combo unit. It's old, but still works good. The Lid Switch on the washer broke. I know how to fix it, but I can't open the top of the unit so I can get to the switch. How do I go about it?

Look at your owner's manual, or the troubleshooting sheet on the back of the washer.
Generally, there's 2-4 hex screws on the back top of the washer to remove, and then the top will lift and slide off....To a point. Remember that you'll still have wires connected to the top and bottom of the washer.
It's also important to stress to UNPLUG YOUR WASHER, before starting this, to minimize the chance of electrical shock.
