How do I replace a severed power cord on hoover windtunnel upright bagless model U5280900?
I have opened the vacuum cleaner and found that the severed cord is attached to a plug that is used when the vacuum is assembled. So, it looks like the only way to fix the power cord is to connect the wires from the new power cord to wires on the old power cord. Is there another way?

It would be the easiest way, attaching a male plug to the end of the severed cord so it can be used with an extension from the power outlet. Safe too if you duplicate the wires in the old portion, as the cleaner may or may not be earthed.
