Hi Mike You test it by using it....... There is no universal way of testing the main board.... It's actually a computer internally. A technician knows about electronic components & how they work and what instruments he has in his tool box to assist with finding the problem. or "swap till you drop" for some technicians that just substitute pcb's till it works. Does it turn ON? Modern TV's use a switch mode power supply. The switch mode power supply is the cause of many failures. Usually bad electrolytic capacitors....
