I'm going to recommend that you call toll free to the Consumer Affairs assistance line at 1-800-334-2137 between the hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. They wanted to walk me thru this problem, but I explained I did not have the unit in front of me. When I asked possible causes, they said it could be an internal component has failed. It was also sugessted that I press the space bar to clear the blinking light.I'm going to recommend that you call toll free to the Consumer Affairs assistance line at 1-800-334-2137 between the hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. There is a carriage return release lever on the far right of the typewriter, that engages a notch on the underside of the roller/carriage return--push it forward to release the lever and you are in business
It has a spoon shaped end and its on the right side.

While holding down the code key, hit the lock key. This should keep the lock key from blinking.
